Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc.  Our Brass sheet metal is 260 alloy, which is 68-70% copper, the balance zinc. This 260 brass alloy is excellent for soldering both hard (brazing) and soft and is also superior for hammer work or cold forming.  We also carry a brass 230 alloy called NuGold, which is 85-88% copper, the balance zinc.  Because of the higher copper content, NuGold has a more reddish color as compare to our standard 260 alloy brass, some might say closer to the color of 14K gold alloy. It is also highly rated for soldering and hammer work.

Our sheet metal is sold with one side protected with a removable plastic coasting to help prevent scratches that can occur during shipping and handling.  This side should be smooth and scratch free.  Sheets come straight from the mill and are not otherwise polished or finished in any way. Sheets can have natural surface discolorations that can be polished away.
